Several excerpts from plays by Starina Johnson are included in Towne Street Theatre’s latest installment of their successful In Response series, October 6-28 at The Stella Adler Theatre (http://www.townestreetla.org/yearofthewoman). She will also be directing Third Window from the Right and acting in Waiting for the Hogwarts Express for NEO Ensemble Theatre’s production of Scott Mullen ten-minute plays, November 8-18 at The Complex: Ruby Theatre (http://www.neoensembletheatre.org).

Mark V. Jones directed a 10-minute play to film, Amy & Neil, was featured in a film, Miles Underwater by Colette Freedman, is placing finishing touches on his collection of short stories, It’s A Southern Thang, and is very happy and honored to be a part of PlayGround-LA for a 3rd consecutive year. He will be constructing (Lead carpenter/builder) the set for the stage show, Phil Hill, at West Angles Theater in Oct.  The show will run for 3 weeks.

Jonathan Josephson’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ The Chimes: A Goblin Story will be included as part of Unbound Productions’ Wicked Lit: The Chimes and The Corpse; October 4-November 10 at Mountain View Mausoleum in Altadena. Half the run is already sold out! Get tickets at wickedlit.org.

Mildred Lewis has joined the Rogue Artists Lab to develop a new piece, The Secret Life of LA Freeways.

Scott Mullen‘s short play 172 PUSH-UPS, which he wrote for PlayGround-LA, was named the second place winner in this year’s William Faulkner One Act Play Competition. The play was recently seen at Short + Sweet Hollywood Theatre Festival, featuring PlayGround-LA regulars Krystal Mosley, Tahmus Rounds, and Christina Wren, and directed by Frieda de Lackner.

Jonathan Wickremasinghe-Kuhn’s feature script OFF THE STRIP is a finalist in Final Draft’s Big Break Contest.
