ALLIE COSTA recently booked and filmed four movies, two live-action and two animated. Her play Remembrance, which began at PlayGround-LA, had a sold-out run at the Cut to the Chase Festival in Chicago. Her critically acclaimed play Two Girls and monologue Glitter and Smoke were both recently presented in London, and her play Heartfelt had a reading in Florida. ANDRES AGUSTIN BARRERA (he/him/el) PlayGround-LA Directing Apprenticeship alum was one of ten students nationwide to be selected as a recipient of the prestigious Cody Renard Richard Scholarship, a program supporting emerging theatre leaders of color in non-performance disciplines. As part of the cohort, Andrés will participate mentorship from industry and Broadway professionals, culminating into an all-expenses-paid cohort summit in New York City and receive a $10,000 scholarship to support his studies at UCLA and his ongoing artistic development. JO YUAN will be part of the cast in the first public presentation of Dough Broke, a new play by Sarah Cho, directed by Rebecca Wear. Happening on Saturday, March 21, this reading will showcase the first of four commissioned works as part of The Neighborhood Project. JONATHAN JOSEPHSON’S newest short play Dantooine Farmboy will be part of Force of Nature Productions 2026: A Rush Odyssey, March 13-15 in NoHo. Next month, his short comedy Dark Druids and Their Dark Jars will have a two-week run as a part of “Nightshade: Vernal” at Memoriam Development at Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin, IL. Eight of his adaptations of classic horror literature, along with all of Wicked Lit Volumes I and II are now published by Concord Theatricals, available now! MICHAEL P. ADAMS’S Art of the Craft, originally written for PlayGround-LA a few years ago, is part of the Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble’s Festival 10, which takes place March 27-29 in Brentwood, CA (the Northern California one).
BAYLEE SHLICHTMAN’S Symbiotic will be in EST/LA’s Winterfest March 21st at 3pm. Marichka, an aquarist at the Jellyfish Museum in Kyiv, begins to form an unlikely connection with a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war while trying to keep the memory of her friend alive.
MATTHEW HENERSON continues to recur as Special Agent Carl Laughlin on NCIS: ORIGINS. He’s currently appearing as Von Strack in AMADEUS at the Pasadena Playhouse through March 15, and will appear in the SAG-AFTRA Radio Plays at the Gene Autry Museum on March 26.
ABEL MARQUEZ was honored as one of this year’s Gold Medallion honorees, which honors individuals that have made extraordinary contributions to the teaching and producing of theatre, and services of ACTF. These individuals and organizations have demonstrated deep commitment to the development of the American College Theatre Festival and the expansion of theatre arts education. According to Festival coordinators and previous honorees, the Medallion honors those who have “significantly dedicated their time, artistry and enthusiasm” to excellence in educational theatre. The Gold Medallion is widely regarded as one of the great honors in the field of theatre arts and education.
TEDDY ALEXIS RODRIGUEZ, PHD will direct for CASA 0101’s Brown and Out Festival at the Renberg Theater and for the Frida Kahlo Theatre Festival.
