See what PlayGround-LA Writers and Company Members are up to this month including: Michael P. Adams, Damian Alejandro Arteaga, Evan Baughfman, Tim Bryant, Allie Costa, Jordan Maria Don, Jon Gentry, Mildred Inez Lewis, Debba Rofheart, and Jo Yuan

Michael P. Adams, Jordan Maria Don and Jo Yuan (@itsme.joyuan) will all be featured in Double Take Actors Collectives newest production, Where We Live: An Evening of Short Plays. The show features 7 short plays and all three company members will be performing in one. The show will also feature MOVING DAY written by Adams (mpadamswriter). Don (@jaayyddee) will also be directing Bianca and Miles in 707. Where We Live runs May 7-9th at 8pm at the Atwater Village Theatre Complex. You can get your tickets HERE.

Damian Alejandro Arteaga is having his full-length play “Super Duper Happy Immigrant Funtimeland,” produced as part of the Full Circle Players Emerging Voices New Play Festival. He will be the featured play performed on May 29th and 30th at The Box in Riverside CA. More info HERE. (@damian.a.arteaga) 

Evan Baughfman’s sci-fi-comedy play, OCTOBER 31, 2026, will have its premiere this June, in North Hollywood. Force of Nature Productions will produce the script as part of its upcoming show, “No Small Parts.” What is OCTOBER 31, 2063 about? “Halloween Night 2063. It’s just like the good, old days. Until it’s not. Really not.” (This script was initially written for PlayGround’s Season 13 “Sci-Fi” prompt!) More info coming soon to www.fonproductions.com

Tim Bryant’s children’s play Jack and the Firebird has been acquired for worldwide licensing in the Tiny Scripted catalog. Tiny Scripted is a licensing and distribution company specializing in short-form works for stage and screen. Also, his short poem “Cockroach Ballet” was published in Issue 13 of Molecule, an online literary magazine. (@TimFromTomorrow) 

Allie Costa appears in the animated film Blooky: The Book Who Wanted to Be Read, which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival, screening May 19th! Blooky was also nominated for the College Television Awards (the Student Emmys) presented by the Television Academy. Allie recently booked and filmed a fun role in a dramatic sci-fi movie and lent her voice to an animated role in another film. She appeared on Tell Me What Happened, hosted by fellow PlayGrounder Jay Rehak, and sang in a livestreamed charity fundraiser. Her play Femme Noir was recently presented at Golden Goose Theatre in London, while A Moment of Your Time had a reading at The Bread and Roses Theatre in London, and Sugar and Spice had a reading at the Union Theatre, also in London. On Her Own Terms, which began at PlayGround-LA, was selected for the Lamoise New Works Festival and had a reading at Moxie Theatre in San Diego. Jon Gentry’s Multiple award-winning solo show “Black Bastard” returns for the WeHo Pride Arts Festival before heading on the road again. The performance begins Noon on Sunday, May 24th at the Renberg Theatre. Tickets are free with registration. (@theejongentry)

Mildred Lewis’ short piece After Passage was published in Rebel’s Zeitgeist (Coppin State University) and read at The Ivy Bookshop (Baltimore). Influence was workshopped at the Colony Theatre (Burbank). (@Themil10)
