Jon Gentry’s Black Bastard will return for two Encore performances on August 4th and August 10th at the Stephanie Feury Studio Theater after a sold-out run at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. The show then heads to San Francisco for a three-performance run August 16-18 at the PlayGround Free-Play Festival. Winner of two Hollywood Fringe awards: Soaring Solo Social Impact Award and Best of Asylum Overall Winner. Learn more here.

Allie Costa recently booked a sci-fi film and played lead roles in two new play readings – one a drama, one a comedy. She also has a recurring role on The Kit Bull Story, which is streaming wherever you listen to podcasts. Her play How I Knew Her was selected for the Upstage Napa Valley PlayFest this October. Lina Patel’s play Belonging about a loving, non-traditional family and how they begin to heal and relocate themselves in the world after a devastating loss, will be read at Rogue Machine Theater on July 28th at 8pm. See more here.

Mildred Inez Lewis’ dramedy pilot XO Mickey will have a staged reading as part of Breakthrough Reading Series. XO Mickey is inspired by Black country star Mickey Guyton. The reading will be Wednesday, August 28th at 7 p.m. in our beloved Broadwater Theater.

Andrew Joseph Perez will be signing books and autographs at the Steamy Lit Convention in Anaheim August 2nd and 3rd! @andrewjosephperez

Misao McGregor will have their short play, shitting bricks, and a dramatic monologue published in the 2024 Bread Loaf Journal as a part of their ongoing education toward receiving their master’s in English.

Evan Baughfman will be working the Horror Writers Association booth at Midsummer Scream horror convention, inside the Long Beach Convention Center on July 27th/28th! He will also be selling and signing copies of his books, TRY NOT TO DIE IN A DARK FAIRY TALE, BAD FOR YOUR TEETH, VANISHING OF THE 7TH GRADE, and THE EMACIATED MAN! Emily Brauer Rogers has a podcast that she co-wrote called Elucidity releasing July 29. Elucidity follows the sleep-obsessed (and nightmare-plagued) journalist Jessica Suzuki as she investigates the sketchy tech company behind a revolutionary lucid dreaming app that allows users to control their dreams. Frieda de Lackner’s film of Scott Mullen’s play, 172 Push-Ups, will screen at Hollyshorts Film Festival on Saturday, August 10 at 5pm. The film stars Playground actors Krystal Mosley, Christina Wren, Jahnavi Alyssa, Jonathan Wray, and Jon Gentry. Gabi Mayorga was part of the production team, doing set decoration. More info here.
