Evan Baughfman‘s short Christmas play, “Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtleDoves,” will be produced this month by Force of Nature Productions of L.A. His holiday horror story, “Home Sweet Home” will be published in “Santa Claws is Coming to Deathlehem,” an anthology by Grinning Skull Press.
Diana Burbano recently won the Science@play at Livermore Shakespeare festival.
Starina Johnson‘s new monologue, “Wish List,” will be performed this Sunday, December 6th for the 6th Annual Holiday LAFPI Micro-Read Hook-Up! More info HERE.
Daysha Veronica has been working with New York Theatre Workshop for 4 weeks on a new play as part of her thesis project for UCLA. The Write Choice follows an insecure, young black writer who suffers a tragic loss in the family that sends her back to her childhood home where she discovers a photograph that inspires her to write her first play. Behind her back, her sister submits her play to a new works program in Portland and to everyone’s shock, she wins. But when she shows up for the staged reading and discovers that her cast was not what she had originally envisioned, she is forced into finding her own voice to ask for what she really wants amidst navigating the complicated racial power dynamics in the theater. Emily Brauer Rogers‘ show “Bloomer Girls” about women playing baseball in the late 1800’s will be read as part of New Works Virtual Festival as part of the 20 plays in 20 days on Dec 7th to support Actor’s Fund. See HERE for more information. Her play, “Staying at Home for Christmas” will be part of Caravan Productions December 14th live reading.
Uma Incrocci co-wrote the Hallmark Channel movie “A Christmas Carousel,” airing Dec 19th at 8pm.
Mildred Inez Lewis‘ new two hander “Drive Time” was read in the Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA Playwrights Unit. Central Works (Berkeley, CA) will produce her full-length comedy, “The Museum Annex,” set in the women’s annex to George C. Wolfe’s Colored Museum in its 2021 season.
Desiree’ York‘s monologue “Still Here” has been selected by Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble for their Covid Monologues which will be performed and aired in 2021 and published with proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders.
Christina Wren voices a character in Zack Snyders’ new animated series, “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas for Netflix.”
Stephanie T. Keefer performs in several episodes of the upcoming web series, “Complaints Anonymous” produced by Black Girl Magic Creative Series.
Michael P. Adams‘s play “Meetings” has been selected for the Lake Placid Center for the Arts Zoom Play Festival, and his play “A Night Out” will be produced by Squeaky Bicycle Productions in January.
Jonathan Josephson‘s (www.jonathanjosephson.com) short play collection “Seven Deadly Tens” (READ HERE) was recently featured at Stage Explorations. To see the interview click HERE. His “The Tale of Dakota Dawson” (Playground-LA 2018) was recently produced at Austin College (Austin, TX) and his short play “Phone Friend” will be produced soon at Northfield Mount Hermon (North Harmon, MA).
Allie Costa‘s short film, “Constellations” had its world premiere at “Beyond Our Bodies,” a film festival presented by Creative Collabs and Global Variety Performance. Allie wrote, directed, and appeared in the film. Allie recently lent her voice to a variety of characters in two new films and a musical, and she was featured in another episode of the podcast, “A Moment of Your Time.” Her scripts, “And Peggy,” “Faking Glory,” and “As You May Be Aware” had readings and workshops, while “Back There” was seen at Greater Manchester Fringe.
