Two of Starina Johnson’s plays that originated with PlayGround-LA, Daniel the Brave and Guiding Light, have been included in a short play festival at The Wallis. Tickets now on sale here. M.J. Kang was awarded The Breath Project’s 2022 New Play Award, including mentorship with Chay Yew.
Allie Costa recently wrapped a new film. Also, her piece Power Pose was selected for an event in London and the wonders of technology let her perform it from her home in L.A. Her play Failure to Communicate was part of the NYU Spring One Acts Festival and her monologue “With This Ring” was shared via Mind the Gap Theatre. Susan C. Hunter’s latest project, TALES OF THE DARK ROMANTICS, is now available as an e-book on Amazon and as an audiobook on multiple platforms including Audible.
Mark Sherstinsky’s play, THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE, originally part of Monday Night PlayGround-LA, will be staged by Strange Rx in San Francisco in April, as part of the Your Worst Nightmare Play Festival.
Evan Baughfman‘s ocean-set story, TERRIBLE AND TRUE, will soon be available to read for free on Kelp Journal’s blog, “The Wave”.
Aaron Higareda has recently been selected to represent Region 8 at the KCACTF National ASPIRE Arts Leadership Festival! He’s also thrilled to have his play “You don’t even speak Spanish!” be a finalist for the 2022 Latinx Theatre Commons Comedy Carnaval, and last but not least he will be presenting a staged reading of his most recent play “Cry Now, Laugh Later” in Riverside California on April 2nd.
