Frieda de Lackner’s film, 172 Push-Ups, will screen at the Emeryville LGBTQ International Film Festival on February 28 at 2:00 PM in Emeryville, CA. The film is an adaptation of Scott Mullen’s play and stars wonderful Playground actors Krystal Mosley, Christina Wren, Jahnavi Alyssa, Jon Gentry, and Jonathan Wray. Aaron Higareda’s Playwriting Experiment has reached 100 Subscribers! Aaron started his substack two years ago with a simple hypotheses: If he creates a substack that provides the most honest, courageous, and dopest access about his playwriting process and journey, then he can secure financial independence and produce his own plays. Allie Costa recently booked and filmed four movies, two live-action and two animated! She also performed in developmental readings of five new musicals and was interviewed in a documentary about acting. Her play Remembrance, which began at PlayGround-LA, was selected for the Cut to the Chase Festival, running February 19th-22nd at The Den in Chicago. Her critically acclaimed play “Two Girls” and her monologue “Glitter and Smoke” will both be presented in London on February 12th. Edward Hong will be directing a horror short play as part of the ROOM 204: A NIGHT OF SHORT PLAYS anthology event on February 27th 7pm at Thymele Arts!

Jonathan Josephson’s marshmallow comedy Chubby Bunny will have its 33rd and 34th production at Torrance High School (Torrance, CA) and Naples Middle/High School (Naples, Italy). His throwback radio comedy Tacoma, Trains, and Toothpaste was recently released by Creative Quill Writers Club at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County (Johnstown, PA). His short play Juliet and Her Romeo, or Whatever  will soon be published by YouthPLAYS, more on that soon! Grace Wilkerson is directing a concert reading of the musical Dogfight at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica. Dogfight is a poignant and powerful musical set in 1963, on the eve of the Vietnam War. It follows a group of young Marines in San Francisco who take part in a cruel game known as a “dogfight.” What begins as a heartless prank evolves into a tender and transformative connection. With a soulful and dynamic score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the show explores themes of love, loss, and coming of age. Jennie Webb’s play about jellyfish and genealogy and rogue taxidermy, CRAZY BITCH, will be part of Clamour Theatre Company’s Clay & Water 2026 Playwrights Retreat and Reading Series along with works by Darcy Parker Bruce and Emily Elyse Everett, presented February 23-25. For more info, look HERE !

Jon Gentry attends the artist residency at nina Idyllwild, a queer-centered program dedicated to LGBTQ+ artists living in California. He will work on developing the sequel to his multiple award-winning solo show “Black Bastard.”
